Q: We are about to see a lot of posts & tweets about reader conventions, RT, BEA, ALA and many more are starting soon. Which one would you love to attend? Where and why?
Oooh I wish I was attending BEA! I’m green with envy for those who are, but will live vicariously through their posts and updates. Bouchercon sounds like a great event-mystery writers are present and that means the possibility of meeting Chelsea Cain or Charles Finch. I also wish I could attend RT and RWA because I want to meet Elizabeth Hoyt and Sherry Thomas as well as Jessica Lemmon. Alas not going to those this year, but I am *hoping* to attend Rom Con (key word being: hoping). I’m in the midst of trying to figure out logistics because I’ll be in the Denver area in early June and trying to see how cost effective I can make a second trip in what would be a few weeks apart from my first visit.
ETA: I should note that I am attending the Southwest Book Fiesta being held in Albuquerque, Mother’s Day weekend. So far from the author list, I only recognize one author, but hey it’s a local event.
What about you? Any reader conventions you’d like to attend or attending?
dearrestlessreader
Sadly there are no conventions that are happening by me (that I know of)! I’m going to be reading everyone’s posts though as I so badly wanted to attend BEA. I’m hoping next year it’ll happen though! It’s great that you have book events near you, I wish my area had something locally!
My FF HERE.

Hopefully you’ll get to go to Rom Com *crosses fingers for you*. I’ve never seen any type of book event in Oklahoma (they may come, but I haven’t seen them) but if they did I would be so there. My eyes are on RT for next year. Thanks for stopping by My FF this week. Old follower π

Book conventions are tricky. It’s one of those, you either find out about them AFTER they happened or are located in a city that’s located hours away in your state. If my sister wasn’t moving in with a roommate I’d stay until the end of June to attend Rom Com, but since is I’ll have to book a hotel for those days, etc. I keep hoping it’s doable.

I’m going to make a goal to save up money and go next year. There are really no local book festivals or conventions here in Utah. LUW has a writer’s conference, where writers can showcase their work, but that’s not exactly the same thing. Have fun in Albuquerque! π Happy Friday!

There has to be a need for a book convention / festival. I’m surprised ABQ is having a book festival since to get new releases it often takes months (and that’s with a B&N in the area). Maybe some Utah writers can put something together? I know the B&N in SLC had a HUGE book signing thing a few months ago (a friend works at a shop near the B&N and mentioned it).

All these conventions are too far for me, but if I manager to save up I hope to make to next year’s BEA. In the meantime I’ll be living vicariously through others too π
Jessica
I live in the southwest of the US and trust me, it’s expensive even trying to fly out to these events so I’ll stay as close to possible to home. π

I would love to attend BEA and RT someday. Thanks for all of the PAC NW convention ideas and thanks for stopping by! New bloglovin follower.

I would love a chance to go to any reader’s convention…they all sound like such fun.
Jessica
They do, don’t they? Just for at least the experience.

The BEA convention is pretty close to where I live, but I probably won’t have the opportunity to go. Of course I’m not even sure what a book convention entails, so I guess I’ll have to research more about it before going to one. xD

Book conventions in general are meant for those in the publishing world, but add aspects to attract readers. So maybe you’ll have a panel with 3 murder mystery writers who will talk about their book and answer questions. It’s all different. Before going to BEA-there would be a lot of research to outline exactly what I’d want to do, etc.

I’d love to go to BEA. Who knows when I’d be able to go…I’ll have to plan it all out. π I’m green with envy, too. Like lime green jello envy. π I hope you make it to Rom Con. Have fun at the Southwest Book Fiesta. I’d go! π

I hope you make it to Rom Com! The good thing about these events is that there are SO many of them, so even if you can’t make a particular one, there are bound to be others. And there’s always next year! These authors aren’t going anywhere. π
Thanks for stopping by.

Very true. It’s just at the moment one wishes they could attend all these awesome events as everyone else. I’ll just live through everyone’s posts. π
