Woo-hoo, today’s our stop on the Kissing the Maid of Honor blog tour and I’m happy to be part of the bridal party. Located below is an awesome giveaway which I wish I could enter (boo!), but that’s okay. I really enjoyed Robin Bielman’s Kissing the Maid of Honor and reviewed it here.
Please give a warm welcome to Robin!
I saw this word somewhere on the Internet recently, and I just loved it. It inspired me to talk about what is at the heart of all weddings—love. Yes, I’m in a total wedding state of mind right now. Not because I’m getting married. I married my high school sweetheart a long time ago. (We also renewed our vows on our 10-year anniversary, which was incredibly romantic.) But because in my newest release from Entangled Publishing, KISSING THE MAID OF HONOR, there’s a wedding about to take place and it’s that event that brings my hero and heroine together.
There’s no magic formula for love. No perfect picture. For each of us it’s different. But there are a few things I think we can agree on. A few things that call to mind romance and l-o-v-e. Especially where weddings are concerned…
The ceremony. Whether it’s in a hotel, a church or temple, a backyard, on the beach, or on a farm, the setting is always romantic, isn’t it? Because it’s the words spoken that inspire everyone in attendance to squeeze the hand of the person at their side or think about what love means to them. To remember. To look forward. To dream.
The cake. I don’t know about you, but I’m all about cake. It totally inspires me. To eat it. To feed it to my hubby. To share in the sweetness that the day symbolizes.
The ambience. Flowers, tulle, candles, family, twinkling lights, music, kisses, laughter, tears of joy, dresses, tuxedos and suits, smiles, friends. I think all of these things inspire love and set a mood of affection, hope and gratitude. Joy is contagious at weddings. Wrap yourself in the feeling of happily ever after and it’s impossible not to believe in the forever kind of love.
In keeping with weddinspiration, I thought I’d throw some quotes out there, too. Here’s a few on love that I really like:
Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get—only with what you are expecting to give—which is everything. ~Katherine Hepburn
We are each other’s harvest; we are each other’s business; we are each other’s magnitude and bond. ~Gwendolyn Brooks
We love because it’s the only true adventure. ~Nikki Giovanni
What greater thing is there for two human souls than to feel that they are joined… to strengthen each other… to be at one with each other in silent unspeakable memories. ~George Eliot
In a great romance, each person plays a part the other really likes. ~Elizabeth Ashley
So tell me, what’s your favorite cake flavor?
