This week’s topic is: books on our summer to be read list. I’m hoping to get through a few books I’ve had for a few weeks.
01. Night Film by Marisha Pessl: I actually started this and am really enjoying the multimedia addition and lets the reader think they are looking at real media clips.
02. Questions of Travel by: Michelle de Kretser
03. The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer
04. The First Rule of Swimming by Courtney Angela Brkic: I’ve been sitting on this for a few days. Beginning was interesting and engaging, but soon lost steam. Hoping to finish this soon.
05. The Execution of Noa P. Singleton by Elizabeth L. Silver: I started this over the weekend and it is slow going, but am enjoying it.
06. Lover Be Mine by Nicole Jordan: I haven’t picked up a Jordan book in forever despite her releasing a few books. I’m looking forward to saying hello.
07. The Mistress by Tiffany Reisz: The Prince ended in a cliffhanger and looking to see how this concludes.
08.Once Upon a Tower by Eloisa James: James is usually a hit or miss for me, but the synopsis for this sounds like a fun read.
09. Feel the Heat by Kate Meader
10. South of Surrender by Laura Kaye: I received an ARC of this a few months ago, but haven’t had a chance to start it.
What’s on your summer TBR list?

Hope things pick up for you with The First Rule of Swimming. I do remember there being one or two lulls while reading it but in the end I found it to be very interesting. Sadly I couldn’t say the same about Questions of Travel, but maybe her books just isn’t for me.
I hope to pick up The Interestings one of these days, the plot sounds, well, interesting 😀

Good to hear about The First Rule of Swimming. I’ve seen mixed reviews for Questions of Travel and I worry about it.
Yay for another read for The Interestings! 😀
Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Christine @ BookishlyB
I’ve read The Interestings and Night Film and loved them both!

I’m so glad you loved them both! I’m finding the physical ARC of Night Film awkward to hold due to its thickness. I’m only about 10% in and really enjoying it.
Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

I haven’t heard for the majority of these books but I will look them up!
Happy reading!

I have NO idea what to expect. I started it a few nights ago and the writing is interesting. I can usually figure out how things will go, but this one I’m at a loss.
Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Annabel Smith
I’ve been wanting to read some Marisha Pessl since I heard about her debut but havne’t got round to it yet. I saw Michelle de Ktretser speak about Questions of Travel at perth Writer’s festival and she was a very erudite and thoughtful person, and the novel has been on tonnes of prize shortlists so I’m definitely interested. Also The Interestings keeps popping up for me – need to check that out.I love that cover too. Stripes!

Pesssl is new to me and I’m really enjoying Night Film. I can’t even imagine the work put in to come up with such an intricate history with the multimedia images, etc. I’ve heard great things about Questions of Travel. I was planning to read it last month, but things got in the way. Hoping to get it read soon.

You’ve pulled together some interesting books. Not sure I’ve run across many of them. You’ve got me curious about Night Film and looking forward to your review.

Night Film is getting lots of rave of reviews with a few saying it is going to be this year’s Gone Girl. Praise like that worries me, but overall so far enjoying it.

I’ve heard really wonderful things about The Interestings and Night Film, both of which are on my eventual TBR list.
And with The Execution, those are some powerful comparisons in the blurb (Lionel Shriver, Defending Jacob, and Before I Go To Sleep), it will be interesting to see if it lives up to the hype.

Night Film is getting TONS of praise and I always worry about that because you know it won’t live up to the hype. Right now it’s a slow read because there’s a lot of mulitmedia images / files along with the text so you can’t skip it because it’s part of the story.
Execution is interesting. I’m about 25% in and I don’t know what to make of it. It’s all told via Noa’s perspective and you know that limits the scope of the story in some format. The big question is, do we believe her?
Daisy @ The Broke and the Bookish and Between the Pages
I really want to read both Love Be Mine and Once Upon a Tower as well, they sound so good!!

The synopsis for Once Upon a Tower had me intrigued at that specific moment. I’m hoping to read it soon. I LOVE Nicole Jordan. Although I miss her old style of writing.

A good eclectic mix of books! The Nicole Jordan intrigues me, too. And The First Rule of Swimming — I’m still debating whether to add that one to my TBR list. Enjoy your summer reads!

First Rule has been sitting on my kindle for AGES. I was invited to review it by Little Brown and it was one of those things I didn’t want to and yet I did. Have you read Nicole Jordan? She writes differently now than she did oh ten years ago. I miss the old Jordan.
