Have you ever been surprised to find out a film was based on a book? Film Friday is a weekly feature that spotlights films that were adapted from books.
I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed Salmon Fishing in the Yemen! It stars Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt, and Kristin Scott Thomas. It’s based on the Paul Torday novel (2007) which bears the same name. I actually found the film to be sweet and afterwards made me feel like anything was possible. I have to admit, Kristen Scott Thomas steals the show as the Prime Minister’s press secretary. She also delivers the ONE of the BEST lines in the film, “Don’t you suck your teeth at me young man, I’m not one of yo’ bitches from the Baltimore Low Rises, ya feel me, I’M YA *beep* MOTHER!”
Dr. Alfred Jones: When things get tricky in my life, I talk to my fish.
