Dear Secret Sister #7

Dear Secret Sister #7

#OTSPSECRETSISTER is hosted by On the Same Page. It’s a six month “Secret Santa” type of set up, but instead of focusing on gifts, it’s a cheer club. Everyone is paired up and throughout the round, cards, little gifts, and cheer are sent. For more information about the set up and how to join the next round, see this post over at The Book Addicts Guide. Dear Round 4 Secret Sister: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I’ve quit my job to go to Hogwarts! Just kidding! 😉 Haha, but it’s been fun so far and I know we’ll have lots to catch up on! February Ah, what a fun package! I hope you don’t mind, but I shared the chocolates with the Veterans that came into the office. They loved being offered candy, so… Read more »

Blogging Extravaganza: Interview with Myself

Blogging Extravaganza: Interview with Myself

Rachel over at Beauty and the Bookshelf created Blogging Extravaganza and it’s a short series of challenges to help bloggers think outside the box. I know I’ve written a few posts regarding my blogging slump and I’m hoping this will help get that mojo back. The first challenge, An Interview with Yourself, started today, but you can still join if you’re interested. Since this is a book blog, I decided to take a few questions I ask in my Books Ahoy! feature and apply them to me. My favorite book as a child: I drove my parents crazy with Dr. Seuss’ Green Eggs and Ham. I really liked that book! I also loved Scott O’Dell’s The Island of the Blue Dolphins. It’s based on the true story of Juana Maria,… Read more »

I’ve been waiting on pins and needles and you’re taking your time revealing who you are. It’s okay, but I just want to thank you properly and give you all the virtual hugs you deserve! November What a fun package! I’ve heard a lot of great things about Dumplin’… Read more »

If We Were Having Lunch: Second Edition

If We Were Having Lunch: Second Edition

Jaime at The Perpetual Page-Turner was inspired by a post written by Ashley (Your Super Awesome Life). Her post, If We were Having Coffee, is a great way to interact with others and share what’s going on in one’s life. If we were having lunch, I’d tell you- I finished the Harry Potter books and now I want all the HP fan items! Seriously, why did I wait so long to read this series? It’s been a journey with fun times and heartbreak (Cedric! Sirius! Dobby!). I’ve caught myself using a few HP references in real life (for example: I couldn’t find my keys and suddenly say out loud “Accio keys.” As it turns out, I’m still a muggle.). A full post on my overall thoughts of the series is… Read more »

Confessions of a Hogwarts Newbie: The Goblet of Fire

Confessions of a Hogwarts Newbie: The Goblet of Fire

As several of you know, I’ve never read Harry Potter! I read The Sorcerer’s Stone in February 2014. I’ll admit, I sort of found The Goblet of Fire to be a dead bore especially with regards to the quidditch section. I did appreciate the set up because it answered a few questions I had, but overall, I just didn’t like Goblet of Fire that much. The Triwizard Tournament was interesting especially the introduction of the other European Wizard schools. Overall thoughts as I read: • Poor Harry! I wish he had some support from the Dursleys especially when it comes to his scar. • I enjoyed picturing Dumbledore sunbathing on a beach somewhere. LOL • “Their attitude had changed since they had found out that Harry had a dangerous murderer… Read more »
