This challenge is all about passions aside from books. I’ve decided to take the plunge and showcase a few paintings I’ve done and am working on. Painting is something I’ve always wanted to do, but didn’t know how to approach it. I’m not a drawer (as you can tell from what I’ve done) and the only art class I had was when I was in 6th grade and trust me-those drawings were hideous.
How did I get started in painting? I saw a Facebook post a friend made about a paint and wine she attended and everyone’s was amazing. Last year, I was visiting my sister in Denver and we decided to go. Let’s just say…mine didn’t quite turn out like it was supposed to. Here’s the original painting that we were going to replicate: Sunrise at Sloan’s Lake
Since that first class, I’ve only taken one more in those paint and sip classes. This was supposed to be a girl in the rain, but I’ve titled her: Girl with the Pizza Umbrella. She’s my terrible giant!
These are some works in progress and finished paintings. The dancing sisters was my third painting and I followed a tutorial by The Art Sherpa. Not exactly close to her painting and I plan to redo this at a later time. The sugar skull is for a cousin and hopefully I can get that finished soon. The camping painting is for my grandpa and I still need to finish it, but I’m really proud of this one! Seriously, I love it a lot! The wolf howling in the desert is for an aunt of mine.
And, a coworker asked if I’d be willing to donate a painting or two for the Peace & Justice Center’s art auction. She said amateur art is really popular and she says she really likes my paintings. The morning skies in Albuquerque in October are colorful and filled with hot air balloons in the sky! Here’s Albuquerque at Sunset (we have a lot of beautiful pink sunsets) with balloons:
