2017 Love-a-Thon Mini Challenge: X Meets Y Challenge

2017 Love-a-Thon Mini Challenge: X Meets Y Challenge

Love-a-Thon is a two day event hosted by Alexa of Alexa Loves Books, Cee of The Novel Hermit, Kristin of Super Space Chick & Mel of The Daily Prophecy. This challenge is all about combining books and movies and tv shows. I’m a big believer that people who claim they don’t like to read, it’s because they haven’t found a genre or author to enjoy. I thought about a few of my favorite books and who they’d appeal to. If you end of reading one of these recommendations, I’d love to know what you think even if you end up disliking it. For the cult movie fan / occult fanatic: Misha Pessel’s Night Film Synopsis: Everybody has a Cordova story. Cult horror director Stanislas Cordova hasn’t been seen in public… Read more »

2017 Love-a-Thon Mini Challenge: Book Spine Poetry

2017 Love-a-Thon Mini Challenge: Book Spine Poetry

Love-a-Thon is a two day event hosted by Alexa of Alexa Loves Books, Cee of The Novel Hermit, Kristin of Super Space Chick & Mel of The Daily Prophecy. I love book spine poetry, but never really do it on my own time. I really need to get into the habit of doing it often. I’m currently an Avon Addict and I’ve been a terrible participant. I wanted to highlight a few titles I’ve received and what better way than to showcase them to you during Love-a-thon. Here we go… Into the Fire Sweet Little Lies Dangerous Games Till Death The Trouble with Mistletoe You May Kiss the Bride A Date at the Altar How the Duke was Won

2017 Love-a-Thon Mini Challenge: Mix & Match

2017 Love-a-Thon Mini Challenge: Mix & Match

Love-a-Thon is a two day event hosted by Alexa of Alexa Loves Books, Cee of The Novel Hermit, Kristin of Super Space Chick & Mel of The Daily Prophecy. This challenge is all about passions aside from books. I’ve decided to take the plunge and showcase a few paintings I’ve done and am working on. Painting is something I’ve always wanted to do, but didn’t know how to approach it. I’m not a drawer (as you can tell from what I’ve done) and the only art class I had was when I was in 6th grade and trust me-those drawings were hideous. How did I get started in painting? I saw a Facebook post a friend made about a paint and wine she attended and everyone’s was amazing. Last year,… Read more »

2017 Love-a-Thon Mini Challenge Mad Libs: Fairytale Edition

2017 Love-a-Thon Mini Challenge Mad Libs: Fairytale Edition

Love-a-Thon is a two day event hosted by Alexa of Alexa Loves Books, Cee of The Novel Hermit, Kristin of Super Space Chick & Mel of The Daily Prophecy. I first participated in Love-a-thon back in 2014 and had a lot of fun, but since then, things have gotten in the way and I haven’t been able to participate. Last year, I totally missed the sign-up date. The first mini Love-a-thon challenge is all about Mad Libs! Mad Libs are always fun and I can’t wait to read what others have come up with! Once upon a time, in a faraway desert, there lived a smart hermit. It lived alone in a hardware shop, where it had grown up with the deceased owner. It had beautiful toes, and it was… Read more »

2017 Love-a-Thon Questionnaire

2017 Love-a-Thon Questionnaire

Love-a-Thon is a two day event hosted by Alexa of Alexa Loves Books, Cee of The Novel Hermit, Kristin of Super Space Chick & Mel of The Daily Prophecy. 1. What’s your name? Where in the world are you blogging from? Hi, I’m Jessica and I live in the Land of Entrapment (ahem, New Mexico). 2. Tell us your history with reading. Were you always a reader? Were you a reluctant reader? Was there a book that convinced you to become a reader? I enjoyed reading as a kid and was *that* preteen trying to show off by reading books far beyond my reading level. I thought people would see me as sophisticated. During high school I didn’t read much other than assigned reading. It was while I was working… Read more »

2014 Book Blogger Love-a-thon Mini Challenge #6: Love-A-Thon Awards

Book Blogger Love-a-thon continues and this time with a mini challenge: love-a-thon awards! We were asked to pick 1-5 blogs and fill in the different categories. The only one I didn’t fill in was the fangirl category because I don’t have a blogger to turn to and like to think that everyone is one! 🙂 Best Blog Design On Starships & Dragonwings-I admit it is the dragon that just gets me all the time! It’s super cute and reflects the genres she covers perfectly! The Novel Hermit-I just adore that header and the colors she uses! Best Weekly Feature Do! Judge a Book By Its Cover over at Pop! Goes the Reader Cover. While most other blogs do this type of feature, what I love about Jen’s is that she… Read more »

2014 Book Blogger Love-a-thon Mini Challenge #3: Mad Lib

2014 Book Blogger Love-a-thon Mini Challenge #3: Mad Lib

Book Blogger Love-a-thon continues and this time with a mini challenge: mad libs! This was a fun challenge. One day, I was hiking with Shane. Out of the blue, a UFO came out of nowhere! It was so huge, golden and smelly. At first, we were afraid, we were petrified, but we ran. We hopped on the jeep to make our getaway. As we escaped, we turned up the radio because Dancing Queen came on and made me relax. Everything was extremely smooth sailing until a tiger appeared in the middle of the road. We swerved to avoid it, but while Shane stayed on the jeep, I got thrown onto my side in the woods. I couldn’t get up, and felt silly as I lay there staring up at the… Read more »

2014 Book Blogger Love-a-Thon Mini Challenge 01: Book Spine Poetry

Book Blogger Love-a-Thon is a two day event hosted by Alexa from Alexa Loves Books and Kate from Tales of Books and Bands. The first mini challenge is book spine poetry and I had a difficult time working on mine. I kept changing book titles until I realized I wasn’t getting anything that resembled a poem! I’m still not sure if what I came up with make sense. The Queen’s Dwarf And the Girl on the Golden Coin A Little Folly Called Night Film Forever, Interrupted Forged in Dreams and Magick The Burning Sky Fallen The Marked Son The Secret Daughter of the Tsar The Winner’s Curse Of Such Wicked Intent Silent in the Grave Fifth Grave Past the Light Songs of Willow Frost The Heir Apparant And The Imposter… Read more »

2014 Book Blogger Love-a-Thon Interview Swap with Always Lost in Books

Book Blogger Love-a-Thon is a two day event hosted by Alexa from Alexa Loves Books and Kate from Tales of Books and Bands. Today, I’m interviewing fellow blogger friend Francine from Always Lost in Books. I first met Francine this past summer during the Summer Lovin’ read-a-thon and since then it’s been awesome getting to know her better. As part of Book Blogger Love-a-thon, participants were assigned interview partners and we were paired up. There wasn’t a set number of required questions and we agreed upon 10 that would cover a variety of topics. I loved getting to know her better and I hope you do too! 1. Tell me something about yourself other than the bio you have on your blog . I love The Lord of the Rings… Read more »
