Blog Tour: Review-Toni Aleo’s Let it be Me + Giveaway

Blog Tour: Review-Toni Aleo’s Let it be Me + Giveaway

Toni Aleo’s Let it be Me is different from her Assassins series. It’s dark and will leave you physically ill. You might be asking why a three rating. First of all, Aleo has written about an abused woman before. In Empty Net, Audrey leaves an abusive relationship, but unlike Let it be Me, the abuse in Empty Net for the most part takes place in the background. I believe something like less than 15% of the novel actually depicts it. It was difficult to read Let it be Me where the abuse does make up over 70% of the plot. Character development is weak. I believe it’s because Let it be Me is told via Violet’s perspective and we aren’t given much back-story to either Rob or herself. My heart… Read more »

Book Review: Ella Grace’s Midnight Lies

Book Review: Ella Grace’s Midnight Lies

Ella Grace’s Midnight Lies is the second book in her Wildefire series. It’s not necessary to read the first, Midnight Secrets in order to enjoy Midnight Lies. Grace does touch upon a few events that occurred in Secrets, but I don’t see them as spoilers. Samantha Wilde and Quinn Braddock can’t keep their hands off each other and sparks flew the moment they made eye contact. For Samantha the relationship with the ER doctor works just fine because she often works odd hours due to her job as a police officer. Quinn can’t believe he’s found a woman worthy and one that makes him believe in love. Quinn receives a call from his ex-wife and he loathes her calls, but when she mentions she’s willing to give him an item… Read more »

Blog Tour: Review-Samantha Fontien’s How to Catch Butterflies Book 2 + Giveaway

Samantha Fontien’s How to Catch Butterflies Book 2 is the continuation to her first book, How to Catch Butterflies. In this situation, it is necessary to read the first since Fontien doesn’t give you much background information regarding characters and situations that occurred in the first novel. Full disclosure: she did offer the opportunity to read the first book and if I had the time, I would have taken up the offer; however, having a very full review plate, I couldn’t. Either way, I often like to pick up books after the first to see if it is necessary to read the first in a series. As for characterization, it’s a bit weak, but then again I believe this has to do with it being the second book and not… Read more »

Book Review: Jessica Lemmon’s Hard to Handle

Book Review: Jessica Lemmon’s Hard to Handle

Jessica Lemmon’s Hard to Handle is the second book in her Love in the Balance series. If you read Can’t Let Go, the companion novella (that’s how I refer it) to Tempting the Billionaire, then you know what happens between Sadie and Aiden. If you haven’t read it or Tempting, never fear-Lemmon provides enough background information and you won’t feel lost. It’s not necessary to read these prior to Hard to Handle, but you’ll have a better understanding of the events and situations if you do. Hard to Handle picks up a year after Tempting the Billionaire ends. Crickitt and Shane are now married and Aiden is back in town for the wedding. At first, both Aiden and Sadie put on fake smiles for the sake of their friends wedding,… Read more »

Excerpt: Lauren Layne’s Isn’t She Lovely

Excerpt: Lauren Layne’s Isn’t She Lovely

New Adult fans! You’ll want to add Lauren Layne’s Isn’t She Lovely to your TBR list! It sounds like a fun read and I have an excerpt to share! Synopsis: The rules are clear—until they’re broken. Lauren Layne puts a New Adult spin on Pygmalion, also the inspiration for Pretty Woman, and gives the classic love story its edgiest twist yet. “Who knew that pretending you’re not falling for someone would be so much more difficult than pretending that you are?” Stephanie Kendrick gave up her whole summer to ace her NYU film school screenwriting course, so she’s pissed to be stuck with a preppy, spoiled frat boy as her writing partner. Then again, with her piercings, black-rimmed eyes, and Goth wardrobe, Stephanie isn’t exactly Ethan Price’s type, either. He’s… Read more »

Blog Tour: Review-Lisa Desrochers’ A Little Too Far + Giveaway

Blog Tour: Review-Lisa Desrochers’ A Little Too Far + Giveaway

I know a few readers will be turned off when they read the synopsis about Lexie sleeping with her stepbrother. Most will view it as a taboo subject, but in reality it does happen. I knew a girl in high school who fell in love with hers although they didn’t grow up together. When I read the synopsis for Lisa Desrochers’ A Little Too Far, I was intrigued. When the opportunity came to review it for a blog tour, I couldn’t pass up the chance. Narration is first person via Lexie and we get to experience Rome through her. She’s a good narrator and I often felt as if I were in Rome with her experiencing the food, sights, and smells. If you’ve visited Rome, you’ll easy fall into place… Read more »

Blog Tour: Review-Christina Lee’s All of You + Giveaway

When I first heard of Christina Lee’s All of You, I wasn’t sure what to think. Even after I read the synopsis, I wasn’t feeling the love or the urge to really read it. Virgin heroes in the past haven’t wowed me. Lee’s All of You came highly recommended by a friend and I decided to give it a try. If Avery Michaels had a personal motto, it would probably be: love ‘em and leave ‘em. Growing up with a mother who didn’t have the best relationships with men, Avery quickly learns to avoid the trouble relationships entail. Instead, she’s satisfied with having a friend with benefits and the occasional one night stand. The night she first spots Bennett, he’s all she wants, but he ignores her. She puts the… Read more »

Excerpt: Maggie McGinnis’ Accidental Cowgirl!

Maggie McGinnis’ upcoming Loveswept debut is set to be released in October 08, 2013 and I have excerpt (the first chapter)! Synopsis: After being betrayed by her con man ex-fiancé, Kyla Bennett nurses a broken heart. But Kyla’s friends have other ideas and when they whisk her off to Whisper Creek, a dude ranch staffed by cowboys so hot they dim the Montana sunset, all Kyla wants to do is hide under a quilt. Then in rides Decker Driscoll. He’s hauling about as much emotional baggage as Kyla, but when he stands close by, both of them want to stay close—and begin to succumb to an undeniable attraction. After experiencing personal tragedy, Decker never thought he’d see Big Sky country again. But now that his family’s Whisper Creek property is… Read more »

Book Review: Jessica Lemmon’s Can’t Let Go

Book Review: Jessica Lemmon’s Can’t Let Go

Jessica Lemmon’s Can’t Let Go was originally scheduled for an October release with Hard to Handle set for September, but the dates were changed. While some may hate the ending to Can’t Let Go and call it a cliffhanger, it really isn’t one. If you haven’t read Tempting the Billionaire, you don’t need to in order to enjoy Can’t Let Go, but I do recommend it because you’ll have a better understanding of the time frame. It’s not necessary though! Those that read Lemmon’s Tempting the Billionaire will remember Sadie and Aiden. Both are secondary characters and we know from Tempting that Sadie ends up dating Aiden. What we don’t know is exactly what happened between the two of them. Crickitt attempts to get to the bottom of it, but… Read more »
