McNaught-E November + Giveaway

I’m really excited to be part of McNaught E-November! Judith McNaught was one of the first authors I read when I began to read romance. Whitney My Love was my first book of hers, but it’s Once and Always I consider to be one of my favorites! I’m excited to share the opportunity with you to win 7 ebook promo codes (2 winners) and it’s open internationally! Have you read Judith McNaught and if so, what’s your favorite book? And if you haven’t, which book interests you the most? SEQUELS SERIES: Once and Always (ISBN: 9781501145520) $7.99 Victoria Seaton, a blithe… Read more »

Blog Tour: Review-Kate Meader’s Sparking the Fire + Giveaway

Blog Tour: Review-Kate Meader’s Sparking the Fire + Giveaway

Woo-hoo! Kate Meader is back with a new Hot in Chicago book! Sparking the Fire is the third and final book in her Hot in Chicago series and if you haven’t read any of the books in the series, it’s not necessary in order to enjoy Sparking the Fire. I’ve read all of them and while Meader will mention an event or two from the previous books, it’s nothing that I consider to be a huge spoiler. We have great character development. Molly Cade is a Hollywood actress struggling to get her career back on track. At first, Molly comes off as bit vulnerable, but she quickly establishes herself as a capable woman. She’s not afraid to fight for what she wants and isn’t afraid to stand up for herself…. Read more »

Blog Tour: Review-Marci Jefferson’s Enchantress of Paris + Giveaway

Blog Tour: Review-Marci Jefferson’s Enchantress of Paris + Giveaway

Last year I read and adored Marci Jefferson’s Girl on the Golden Coin. When I was offered the opportunity to review her second novel, Enchantress of Paris, I couldn’t say no. I’m so glad I didn’t pass up the chance because Jefferson’s newest is wonderfully written and a must read for any fan of historical fiction! We have good character development. When we first meet Marie Mancini, she’s a teenager on the cusp of womanhood. Her father was an Italian aristocrat who was also a well known astrologer. Marie is naive, but it’s her naiveté that makes her a breath of fresh air! You can feel her frustration at the way things are and will cheer her on as she blossoms. We have a wide array of historical figures who… Read more »

Blog Tour: Review-Kate Forsyth’s The Wild Girl + Giveaway

Blog Tour: Review-Kate Forsyth’s The Wild Girl + Giveaway

I really enjoyed Kate Forsyth’s Bitter Greens last year and when the opportunity was offered to review The Wild Girl, I couldn’t pass up the chance! I was curious to know more about Dortchen Wild, the girl who grew up next to the Grimm family and who would ultimately steal Wilhelm Grimm’s heart. The Wild Girl is a moving tale and reminds that she did not live a fairytale life. We have good characterization and a lot of vital characters. Our heroine is Dortchen Wild, the second youngest of six daughters; her life was in many ways preplanned. Dortchen would be the one to stay home to take care of her parents as they aged and her upbringing was strict. She’s a dreamer and longs to be with people. I… Read more »

Books Ahoy!: Lena Diaz + Giveaway

Books Ahoy!: Lena Diaz + Giveaway

Books Ahoy! is a feature inspired by Entertainment Weekly‘s “Books of My Life” column. I wanted to go beyond the interview and ask authors (and even readers) about their favorite books. Reading is a personal, but shared experience and what a great way to know someone by asking them about the books that shaped their life. No author or reader was forced to walk the plank. I’m excited to welcome Lena Diaz to Lit, etc.! Exit Strategy is now available and it’s the first book in the Exit Inc. series. I’m a little halfway through it and I’m really enjoying it! Lena was kind enough to agree to a Q&A and I hope you enjoy getting to know her better. Plus, I’m giving you the chance to win a copy… Read more »

Books Ahoy!: Aaron Cooley + Giveaway

Books Ahoy! is a feature inspired by Entertainment Weekly‘s “Books of My Life” column. I wanted to go beyond the interview and ask authors (and even readers) about their favorite books. Reading is a personal, but shared experience and what a great way to know someone by asking them about the books that shaped their life. No author or reader was forced to walk the plank. I’m really honored to welcome Aaron Cooley to Lit, etc! I loved Aaron’s first book, Shaken Not Stirred and it’s a book that to this day, if I meet anyone who is a fan of Ian Fleming, I recommend Shaken Not Stirred. When Aaron asked if I’d be interested in reviewing his latest, a political thriller involving the Supreme Court, I couldn’t say no!… Read more »

Blog Tour: Review-Brittany Gibbons’ Fat Girl Walking + Giveaway

Blog Tour: Review-Brittany Gibbons’ Fat Girl Walking + Giveaway

I’m always unsure about memoirs because they can be life inspiring and can challenge us, but others fall short. When the opportunity came to review Brittany Gibbons’ Fat Girl Walking, I couldn’t say no especially when I saw it was a book for women and how to accept their bodies. I’ll admit, I had no idea who Gibbons was nor the internet ruckus she stirred up, but after reading Fat Girl Walking, I have a real appreciation for Gibbons and what she’s trying to accomplish. Fat Girl Walking begins by telling the reader about Gibbon’s childhood and from there we join her journey into adulthood. The writing is humorous and Gibbons isn’t afraid to go into painful details that most of us would rather forget about our childhood. I cringed,… Read more »

Books Ahoy!: Anna North + Giveaway

Books Ahoy! is a feature inspired by Entertainment Weekly‘s “Books of My Life” column. I wanted to go beyond the interview and ask authors (and even readers) about their favorite books. Reading is a personal, but shared experience and what a great way to know someone by asking them about the books that shaped their life. No author or reader was forced to walk the plank. I’m really excited to welcome Anna North to Lit, etc.! I’m about halfway finished with The Life and Death of Sophie Stark and am enjoying what I’ve read so far. Hopefully there will be review of it soon, but in the meantime, get to know a bit about Anna plus I’m giving you the chance to win your very own copy! Q. Your favorite… Read more »

Blog Tour: Review-Paula Brackston’s The Silver Witch + Giveaway

I got the opportunity to review Paula Brackston’s The Midnight Witch last year and I really enjoyed her writing. When the chance came to review The Silver Witch, I couldn’t pass up the chance! Brackston’s easily become one of my favorite new authors. And before I talk about the book, let’s take a moment to admire the cover! It’s beautiful and trust me, in person the colors are just lovely! This is definitely one book you’ll want to add to your collection based on the cover alone. We have great characterization! Tilda Fordwells is a widow who lives in Wales and decides to live in the house her and husband had planned on living in. Immediately she begins to have odd experiences. She can’t explain them but at the same… Read more »

Terrible Twos: A Blogoversary Tale + Giveaway

Terrible Twos: A Blogoversary Tale + Giveaway

So let’s talk milestones! Two years ago, I was part of a blog that I helped create, but alas things just didn’t work out and I walked away. I still wanted to be part of the book community and decided to embark on my own. The name, Literary, etc., was not my first choice and anything I played around with at the time just didn’t sound right. During this past year, I’ve debated changing the name and trust me-it’s a scary thing to even contemplate. I admire fellow bloggers who have done it. Maybe, I’ll get a bit of courage for Christmas. 😉 This year I introduced four new features. While I worked on some of these features regularly, others sadly were neglected. ONE LINERS We look at a novel’s… Read more »
