If We Were Having Lunch: Third Edition

If We Were Having Lunch: Third Edition

Jaime at The Perpetual Page-Turner was inspired by a post written by Ashley (Your Super Awesome Life). Her post, If We were Having Coffee, is a great way to interact with others and share what’s going on in one’s life. If we were having lunch, I’d tell you– I’m sorry for the long hiatus. I tried to renew the domain in early March, but couldn’t. I also couldn’t get a hold of my host despite paying to renew hosting. It was a mess! He wouldn’t respond to my emails or support tickets and then one day I logged into the client area and was able to renew the domain. I don’t know what’s going to happen in April 2018. I’ll probably switch hosts. If we were having lunch, I’d tell… Read more »

I hope you don’t mind, but I shared the chocolates with the Veterans that came into the office. They loved being offered candy, so… Read more »

Blogging Extravaganza: Interview with Myself

Blogging Extravaganza: Interview with Myself

Rachel over at Beauty and the Bookshelf created Blogging Extravaganza and it’s a short series of challenges to help bloggers think outside the box. I know I’ve written a few posts regarding my blogging slump and I’m hoping this will help get that mojo back. The first challenge, An Interview with Yourself, started today, but you can still join if you’re interested. Since this is a book blog, I decided to take a few questions I ask in my Books Ahoy! feature and apply them to me. My favorite book as a child: I drove my parents crazy with Dr. Seuss’ Green Eggs and Ham. I really liked that book! I also loved Scott O’Dell’s The Island of the Blue Dolphins. It’s based on the true story of Juana Maria,… Read more »

Her post, If We were Having Coffee, is a great way to interact with others and share what’s going on in one’s life. If we were having lunch, I’d tell you- I finished the Harry Potter books and now I want all the HP fan items! Seriously, why did I wait so long to read this series? It’s been a journey with fun times and heartbreak (Cedric! Sirius! Dobby!). I’ve caught myself using a few HP references in real life (for example: I couldn’t find my keys and suddenly say out loud “Accio keys.” As it turns out, I’m still a muggle.). A full post on my overall thoughts of the series is… Read more »

Celebrating a Life: Kaos the Cat

Celebrating a Life: Kaos the Cat

On Monday, November 02, 2015 we had to put our oldest cat, Kaos to sleep. He was about 13/14 years old and came into our life as a wrecking ball. At the time, our only cat Kitty, was an outdoor cat and every evening, I’d go out to the front and call her, “Kitty! Here Kitty, kitty, kitty.” Sometimes she’d come right away and other times we’d go inside and then come back for a second round of calling. That night, my sister and I called for her and we heard meowing but she wasn’t around. Then all of sudden this little white ball of fur came running out of the bushes and we go into the house screaming! He was named after two members of boybands: Lance Bass from… Read more »

If We Were Having Lunch: First Edition

Her post, If We were Having Coffee, is a great way to interact with others and share what’s going on in one’s life. If we were having lunch, I’d tell you-my heart hurts for my city. In the course of a week, a beautiful 4 year old girl, Lily Garcia, was shot dead in a road rage incident and a dedicated police officer was shot while conducting a routine traffic stop. That officer, Daniel Webster, was a former Army paratrooper and nine-year veteran of the Albuquerque Police Department. And my heart hurts. In a city where we’ve had a lot of police involved shootings and the city paying out thousands to victims, it… Read more »

Celebrating a Life: The Husky

Celebrating a Life: The Husky

Shortly after 2 am this morning, we got a phone call that the Husky’s blood pressure and sugar were falling and they were working to save her. About five minutes later, we got another call that she passed. And I am devastated. The Husky came into our life as a big fur ball. She was born on September 15, 2002 to my aunt P’s huskies and a month or so later she became a member of our family. Originally P was going to keep her and give us a cinnamon type pup but my parents fell for the Husky. I remember the first evening she was home: my parents and sister went to dinner and I stayed behind so she wouldn’t be alone. I heard some crying coming from their… Read more »
