When Your Favorite Author Goes Off The Deep End

When Your Favorite Author Goes Off The Deep End

Yesterday, one of my favorite authors had a very public Facebook meltdown. It quickly escalated from there and soon everyone who blogs about books was talking about it. I’m at a complete loss as to what to say. I’ve made no secret of my love for her and her series, but at the same time I can see where she was coming from. In a nutshell here’s the Facebook post: What brought it on? I’m asking the same question as many of you. I feel that in some ways, Cain was misunderstood. Now, don’t get me wrong-the way she went about it wasn’t the best way. But sometime last week she posted how One Kick didn’t make the New York Times best sellers list and it was the first time… Read more »

Book Review: Chelsea Cain’s One Kick + Giveaway

Book Review: Chelsea Cain’s One Kick + Giveaway

I’ve made no secret of my love for Chelsea Cain and her Archie & Gretchen series. When I heard she was going to put Archie & Gretchen to the side to focus on a new series, I admit, I was heartbroken. No Archie and the gang for another year or two? Ack, my heart couldn’t take it! At first, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read One Kick, but hey, if I love Cain’s writing then she couldn’t disappoint. Right? As far as characterization, it’s a bit weak but keep in mind this is a series and no doubt the main characters will be fleshed out as it continues. Kathleen “Kit” Lannigan was kidnapped as a child and her rescue made headlines. She’s an unlikely heroine in that she… Read more »

Book Review: Chelsea Cain’s Let Me Go

Book Review: Chelsea Cain’s Let Me Go

Chelsea Cain’s Let Me Go is the sixth book in her Archie Sheridan / Gretchen Lowell series. If you haven’t read the series, start with Heartsick and work your way down. For a standalone, read The Night Season. Let Me Go is not a standalone and Cain mentions a few cases and people from the other books, hence the reason I recommend starting with Heartsick. Let Me Go picks up shortly after Kill You Twice leaves off. Gretchen is still at large and for once Archie takes things in stride. When Archie receives some unsettling news, he sets out to meet with Leo Reynolds, son of drug lord Jack Reynolds and a secret DEA agent. Soon Archie finds out Jack is the one pulling the strings and Leo is being… Read more »

Book Review: Chelsea Cain’s Kill You Twice

Book Review: Chelsea Cain’s Kill You Twice

Chelsea Cain once again delivers! Kill You Twice is the fifth installment in the Sheridan/Lowell serial killer series and honestly I do believe this is the best of the series. If you haven’t read the books start with Heartsick as this really isn’t a stand alone. For that you’d have to read The Night Season (book 4). Archie Sheridan, detective for the Portland, Oregon police department, is back and this time he has another murder to solve. When a body is found gagged, skinned and tied to a tree he knows this isn’t an ordinary killer he’s looking for. So when Gretchen Lowell, the “Beauty Killer,” calls him with information regarding the latest murder, Archie has to begin to distinguish what the truth is and it leaves us all a… Read more »
