Blog Tour: Review-Lori Wilde’s I’ll Be Home for Christmas + Giveaway

Lori Wilde is an author I’ve wanted to read, but never had the chance. When given the opportunity to participate in the blog tour for I’ll Be Home for Christmas, I couldn’t say no. I’ll Be Home for Christmas is the seventh book in the Twilight, Texas series and if you haven’t read the previous novels, it’s not necessary to do so. If you’re wondering about possible spoilers, I didn’t see any that might be considered as spoilers. We have good character development. Gabi Preston needs time to think of her next move. She’s just dropped out of law school and isn’t sure if she wants to follow in the footsteps of her parents. Gabi is likable and you’ll easily feel for her especially when it comes to her brother!… Read more »

Blog Tour: Review- Toni Blake’s Take Me All the Way

Toni Blake is an author I’ve always wanted to read, but just haven’t had the chance to do so. When the opportunity came to participate in the blog tour for Take Me All the Way, I couldn’t say no. Take Me All the Way is the third book in her Coral Cave series. If you haven’t read the previous two books, it’s not necessary to do so in order to enjoy Take Me All the Way. Although I will warn you, there are some spoilers for the previous books, but not any that I consider huge spoilers. We have good character development. Our heroine, Tamra Day is an artist / landscaper and she had a difficult childhood. She’s also very shy and takes the time to get to know a… Read more »

Woo-hoo! Lauren Layne’s Sex, Love, & Stiletto series is now in a boxed bundle set! I haven’t read all of them, but adored Mitchell from After the Kiss. Now all four novels—After the Kiss, Love the One You’re With, Just One Night, and The Trouble with Love—are together in one eBook bundle. Book Review: Jessa McAdams’ The Perfect Bargain

Book Review: Jessa McAdams’ The Perfect Bargain

I’ve read a few of Julia London’s historicals and she’s one I want to read more of. When the opportunity came to review a contemporary under the pen name, Jessa McAdams, I was intrigued. When I read the plot involved the Scottish Highlands, I couldn’t pass up the chance! Character development is a bit weak. Sloane Chatfield is an American girl who decided to leave it all behind for a few weeks to find her real life Jamie Fraser in Scotland. If you’re not familiar with who Fraser is, you’re not alone! Even our hero Galen Buchanan had no idea who he was, but I’ll be kind to you. Fraser of course is the hero in the Diana Gabaldon novels and one who has stolen the hearts of thousands of… Read more »

Book Review: Jessica Lemmon’s If You Dare

Book Review: Jessica Lemmon’s If You Dare

In 2013, Jessica Lemmon wrote, If You Dare, a spooky novella where unrequited love and a bet was at the heart of the story. I really enjoyed it and my only big complaint was the length (I wanted more) because I wanted more of Marcus! Originally published by Entangled as part of their now defunct Flirt line, Lemmon expanded If You Dare and what we have is a full length novel. When Lemmon asked if I’d be interested in reading the new If You Dare, I couldn’t pass up the chance especially since there would be more Marcus! We have really good character development. I liked Lily and it was easy to associate with her. She’s hard working and goal oriented. She also has a no strict dating policy regarding… Read more »

Book Review: Kate Meader’s Flirting with Fire

Book Review: Kate Meader’s Flirting with Fire

Woo-hoo! Kate Meader is back and this time with a brand new series that features firefighters. Can we take a moment to drool over the cover? It’s stunning and ah, the look in his eyes screams determination! We have great character development. Meader has always written strong characters and Flirting with Fire is no exception. Our heroine, Kinsey Taylor, is feisty, competitive, and isn’t one to easily intimidate. I’ll admit, I thought I wasn’t going to like Kinsey because of how self assured and strong she is, but Meader made her relatable. How many of us have fallen for a guy only to realize he’s intimidated by us? Kinsey’s ex-fiancé can’t handle her awesomeness, but that’s okay because Meader has given her someone who isn’t afraid of her. And oh… Read more »

Book Review: Christina Lee’s Whisper to Me

Book Review: Christina Lee’s Whisper to Me

Christina Lee’s Whisper to Me is the third book in her Between Breaths series. If you haven’t read the first two in the series, it’s not necessary to do so in order to enjoy Whisper to Me. I do recommend you read them only because Lee mentions a few things from the books and you might consider spoilers, but I don’t. We have good character development. Ever since I was introduced to Rachel (in All of You) I wanted to know more about her! She’s sassy, strong, and opinionated and I wanted to be her best friend! We finally get to know who she is and wow…Lee gave us a surprise and all I can say is here we have a woman who really does change her personality. The Rachel… Read more »

Book Review: Lauren Layne’s After the Kiss

Book Review: Lauren Layne’s After the Kiss

If you’ve seen How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, then you know the plot quite well. As I read Lauren Layne’s After the Kiss, thoughts of Andie and Ben came to mind. If you’re not familiar with the film, basically Andie works for a magazine (think Cosmo) and decides to write a story, how a girl can lose a guy and showcases the tips of where she went wrong. On the other side is Ben who makes a bet that he can make a woman fall in love with him and if he wins, he gets a lucrative contract. Well…let’s just say Andie and Ben come together and both don’t know they are using each other. Layne’s After the Kiss is very similar to the film, but in… Read more »

Blog Tour: Review-Noelle August’s Rebound + Giveaway

Noelle August’s Rebound is the second book in the Boomerang series and if you haven’t read the first book, Boomerang, it’s not necessary to enjoy Rebound. August doesn’t touch up events from Boomerang though I admit, had I read it, I would have perhaps had a better understanding of Alison and the whole concept of Boomerang as a company. We have good character development despite the fact it’s a bit weak in some areas. Our heroine is Alison Quick and if you’ve read Boomerang, you probably hate her for what she did to Ethan. I can honestly say, give her a chance because you’ll get to know her and realize why she does what she did. I liked her and she has this tough girl attitude but it’s an illusion… Read more »

Three years ago, Adam married his high school love—and then lost her in a tragic accident. Now, the heartbreak and guilt he’s tried to bury with work and women begins to take over his life. Book Review: Emma Mars’ Hotelles

Book Review: Emma Mars’ Hotelles

Emma Mars’ Hotelles is the first book of a French trilogy. I read the English translation and admit, I was really excited to read it because of the synopsis, but sadly it falls a bit short. For the most part, it’s a slow read. I mean s-l-o-w and you’ll want to skip pages or even skim to get ahead, alas nothing noteworthy really happens to capture one’s interest. While I enjoy mysteries, Hotelles isn’t exactly a traditional mystery, but rather the journey of a young woman who becomes sexually awakened. 1. I liked the idea of an escort meeting the man of her dreams. I wanted this to be a bit like Pretty Woman, but it’s not. Annabelle is a rather reluctant escort. She doesn’t want to be in the… Read more »
